Drew helps players of all ages, experience levels, and abilities, develop strong musicianship and discover their own musical voice.
Drew Hurst is a St. Paul–based guitarist, educator, and composer with over 20 years of professional performance and teaching experience. A graduate of McNally Smith College of Music, he has both Bachelor's and Masters degrees in Guitar Performance.
A versatile guitarist, Drew has worked extensively in studio and live settings across a wide range of genres. His performance credits span country, blues-rock, jazz fusion, and progressive metal, including work with Jennifer Ordalen, The Mike Fugazzi Band, Peace to Death, and DiAmorte. In addition, he was band leader and guitarist for the theater production Power Balladz.
An accomplished educator, Drew is known for his steady, friendly, "easy to learn from" approach, with a focus on practical, student-centered teaching. While he specializes in rock, metal, and jazz fusion, he also teaches classical, country, and pop styles. His instruction integrates music theory and technique (basic to advanced), as well as instrument care & gear maintenance. Lessons often extend into composition, improvisation, recording and live performance techniques, and practical, experienced advice for players at all levels: brand-new beginner to advanced!
